Scrum Master

Scrum Masters coach teams on Scrum practices, facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. They remove impediments and support team self-organisation. Certification (CSM, PSM) and practical experience with Agile software teams are required.

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master to support Agile teams in delivering high-quality products and solutions. You will act as a servant leader, facilitating Scrum ceremonies, removing impediments, and promoting Agile values. This role is open to candidates based in South Africa or working remotely.

Reporting Line:

Reports to Agile Delivery Lead, Programme Manager, or Head of Engineering

Working Conditions:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Scrum events including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Coach team members and stakeholders on Agile practices and mindset.

  • Shield the team from outside interruptions and remove blockers to progress.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.

  • Support the Product Owner with backlog grooming and stakeholder communication.

  • Track team performance metrics and help optimise delivery velocity.

  • Ensure transparency through effective use of Agile project management tools.

  • Promote Agile best practices across the organisation.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Deep understanding of the Scrum framework and Agile methodologies.

  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.

  • Ability to work with cross-functional and distributed teams.

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to address delivery challenges.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent certification.

  • 3+ years of experience in a Scrum Master or Agile Coach role.

  • Background in software development, digital projects, or product teams.

  • Exposure to scaled Agile frameworks such as SAFe, LeSS, or Nexus is a plus.
