Technical Project Manager

Technical Project Managers oversee the execution of IT or software development projects, bridging communication between engineering and business teams. Strong understanding of SDLC, cloud infrastructure, and project methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) is required. A technical background is a strong advantage.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a results-driven Technical Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of technology projects across software development, infrastructure, or systems integration. You will bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring project delivery is aligned with scope, time, and quality expectations. This position is open to candidates in South Africa or working remotely.

Reports to Head of Engineering, Programme Manager, or CTO

Working Conditions:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines in collaboration with stakeholders and technical leads.

  • Manage day-to-day operations of multiple technical projects, including resource allocation, risk management, and status reporting.

  • Coordinate development teams, engineers, QA specialists, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Facilitate technical discussions and ensure alignment between business goals and engineering execution.

  • Track project milestones, budgets, and dependencies using tools like Jira, MS Project, or Asana.

  • Identify risks early and implement mitigation plans to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Ensure documentation, handovers, and post-project reviews are conducted effectively.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of technical concepts in software development, APIs, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps.

  • Strong project management skills including scope, time, cost, and quality management.

  • Experience working with Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams in high-pressure environments.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in technical project management or product delivery.

  • Project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or AgilePM is an advantage.

  • Background in systems integration, SaaS, or digital transformation projects is beneficial.
