Web Designer

Web Designers plan and design visually appealing, responsive websites. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and design platforms like Webflow or WordPress is beneficial. A good grasp of user experience, layout principles, and cross-device compatibility is essential.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Web Designer to plan, design, and implement visually appealing and user-friendly websites that align with brand objectives and enhance online experiences. You will collaborate closely with developers, marketers, and content creators to bring websites and landing pages to life. This role is open to candidates based in South Africa or working remotely.

Market-related, based on skills, experience, and portfolio

Reporting Line:

Reports to Head of Digital, UX Lead, or Web Development Manager

Working Conditions:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design responsive websites, landing pages, and digital interfaces using best practices in UI/UX and visual design.

  • Collaborate with developers to ensure design feasibility and consistency across devices and browsers.

  • Create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes using tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.

  • Maintain brand consistency across web assets while introducing creative improvements.

  • Optimise design assets for performance, accessibility, and user engagement.

  • Stay current with web design trends, technologies, and usability standards.

  • Conduct basic user testing and implement design feedback quickly and accurately.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong proficiency in web design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar).

  • Good understanding of HTML, CSS, and web development fundamentals (JavaScript knowledge is advantageous).

  • Strong sense of visual aesthetics, layout design, and responsive design principles.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.

  • Familiarity with content management systems such as WordPress or Webflow.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in Web Design, Multimedia Design, Interaction Design, or related field.

  • 2–4 years of experience designing websites or web applications.

  • A strong portfolio showcasing responsive design projects and user interface design work.

  • Experience in SEO-friendly and accessibility-compliant design is an advantage.
